After Ultimate Challenge they went into X period, which is a different activity. Yesterdays each cabin participated in Knitting Mania. They had some material and had to create an outfit for one of their friends in the cabin. Cute stuff. Sorry, no picture of that either. I know! So lame. That was for you, Jane.
Oh, mom and dad, here's a shout out from Justin and Lindsey. They said to tell you hello. :)
From there they go to pool time, which is also high ropes time. Many of us worked this again, as we all do every day, some more than others, but everyone is getting time on the course and all seem to be enjoying the experience. It's really gratifying to watch these young kids do something that is terrifying to them, and then see the smiles on their faces afterwards.
After pool time we all go to lunch. Yesterday was meat and rice and watermelon. Breakfast is usually some variation of runny eggs. I skip breakfast and enjoy a granola bar instead. Others brought oatmeal. A few brave the breakfast menu.
After lunch it's back out to the ropes course for some and to the Cabin United events for the others. Half dozen competitions between cabins (10-12 kids per cabin) in things like capture the flag, air football, soccer, and a couple of others. We rotate. For example, yesterday I refereed capture the flag. Today someone else is doing that while I work the ropes course. We all move around and fill whatever hole needs filling... by order of "The Brad" as the Egyptians here call him. Ha!
After two Cabin United's we move directly into our sports major. Mine is baseball, the others are tennis, soccer, basketball, squash, skateboarding, volleyball. Oh, and swimming.
Then comes dinner. Not been great so far. Chopped chicken surprise camouflaged by a bread roll. Had a hotdog last night and a hamburger the night before. Both with cold french fries. The rice pudding made special just for us coaches was good though!
Quick story. One kid on high ropes was terrified. He didn't want to go once he got up there. Lindsey cheered him on, said he could do it, just move your feet. "I don't want to. I want to go back." he kept saying. He finally made it across the first part to my station. I congratulated him and said he did better than many others who start then quit and go back. He says, "I want to be one of those kids." Maybe you had to be there, but he made me laugh. He found his courage and made it through the whole course 30 feet up. Good kid. His name is Marwan, king of the high ropes.
Below are some random photos for your enjoyment. God bless!

John looking away for a photo. Supposed
to keep eyes on your kid at all times, but
I distracted him for one second for photo.

Bailey showing off on high ropes,
walking with no hands. The cables
move so it is very difficult, plus
terrifying. Go Bailey!

John made two photos today! He navigated
the high ropes and helped work one of the
stations. He did well. That's Zack who's got
his back.

Justin was challenged to race these Egyptian
kids. He smoked them.
